A neighboring NMR spectrometer operating at the same field strength and running proton-decoupled carbon-13 NMR causes decoupler sidebands in the
proton spectrum. The magnets are 6-7 m apart, the consoles about 4-5 m.
Possible solutions:
For various reasons, this is not bothering us much, therefore we live with it.
One solution could be to alter the operating frequencies of both spectrometers by cranking up one and lowering the other; this is limited by the range
of the FIELD setting on the BSMS. (Actually, we tried this approach, but the separation was not sufficient.)
